Fun in Barbados for the Whole Family

When traveling, it can be difficult to find something for everyone in the group to enjoy, especially if you have kids along for the trip. The good news is that there are plenty of activities in Barbados that the entire family can do, so keep reading.

For an educational touch that you can add to your trip, you can’t go wrong by checking out the local historic sites. Gun Hill is a famous spot in Barbados, meant to symbolize the time when the island was ruled by the British. For something that you can take up a lot of time with, you might also want to check out the Barbados Museum, which has many historical artic facts and other interesting displays. The Museum stands on a site that once was a British prison, giving it that added appeal.

Once you decided that you have met your educational quota of your vacation, you might want to move on to some fun outdoor activities. There are plenty of water related activities to do, for people of all ages and skill levels. You can have a thrilling experience swimming with the local sea turtles, scuba diving and touring some of the many nearby wreckage sites of ships that have sunk, take the whole family sailing, or even go kite surfing. You can even take a submarine ride, often a once in a lifetime experience that your children will talk about for years to come! And of course, no one can resist the beach and ocean waves, and there is no shortage of either here!

For another twist, take a tour of the island by helicopter, which will really give you a different view of the island and its glory. The copters are all flown by career pilots, with all attention being given to safety. Typically, each helicopter can hold six people, 5 guests, and the pilot of course! Most of these tours covers at least a fifty mile radius, so you really do get good value for your money here! Besides, how many others kids can say they have flown over the ocean in a helicopter?

For fun family entertainment, get out and enjoy some of the culture of the people who call the island home. Take part in traditional dances, and the many cultural celebrations frequently held here. Or, have fun with food and enjoy a dinner theatre, where you can try some exotic native dishes, and enjoy a show all at the same time!

The key to traveling with the entire family really is good preparation, even down to the last detail. Do your homework on the local activities and places to visit that are suitable for everyone in the group, so that you don’t have to waste time searching for something to do once you arrive at your destination!
